Big Brother Awards Given Again
Big Brother awards given out for the sixth time in Finland. Winners: Constitutional law committee (for not upholding civil rights guaranteed in the constitution), PANDA (GPRS vehicle tracking), Minister of Communications Suvi Lindén (persistent work on removing the protection of privacy that hinders the surveillance of citizens). Positive Winston Smith award was bestowed upon citizen activist Matti Nikki for his steadfast battle for upholding civil rights.
An error margin of 2% in municipal elections ruled acceptable in Finland
The Helsinki administrative court rules that the flawed Finnish e-voting system satisfies the requirements of the Finnish election law, even with 2 percent of votes gone missing. An appeal is expected.
